Rare Mare

What do you get when you ask a sandy, sea-view 50/50 alicante/syrah IGT from a weird corner of Tuscany to sit and think about what it’s done for 13 years? You get a sediment-thick melange of antique rubber tire, mounds of runny tapenade on smoked ham and all the burnt spice and saline leather you can handle–all cast against blood-orange preserves, grass-stains on sweaty skin, a bruised nectarine remnant and ridiculous tannin polished out into liquid crystal that trickles down the back of your throat and drips into the abyss.
