Deep medium ruby out to rusty edges. A considerably flabby nose. Full and ripe, showing deep sweet fruit alongside muddy conifer.
I don’t get a lot of reds from Clarksburg. But that’s just me. I would bet more people all over the world drink more reds from this AVA than any other. Why? In the mouth, ripe and spicy is the attack, building sweet cherry full across the middle over a steely core before becoming quite harsh in the finish. It’s a firm tannin–bitterly tinged with walnut leaves and multi-vitamin–I just wish it was spread out more across the entire wine.
