Light ruby with wide pink edges. Big candy fruit and oak in the nose, fairly vapid of anything else save a bit of chemical residue at the flabby tail-end. A green-briar turns positively 7-UP. In the mouth a nice bitter grainy entry and middle offsets any argument toward untoward fruitiness or flabbiness. Dense and Grenache-serious, with pitch-black notes of Syrah lingering in sight. Decent tannins with a touch of heat. A heady GSM, and a wine I would be proud to take anywhere.

Light garnet with wide amber edges. Light Grenache forwardness with considerable brier and a soft baking-bread sort of warm kitchen dullness with pretty verbena and gardenia blossoms on the black-walnut window-sill. Nose trails off into flat-Pepsi and mud-puddles, leaving you craving that fresh-swirl floral. In the mouth a level of fruit and complexity defying the “El Dorado” on the label, but a flat hollow of finish underscoring it. A lovely, fun-drinking wine with sweet, mellow tannins accentuating little.
