Bandol Apart

Med-dark ruby with slightly bricking edges.  Wonderful Old World funk precedes intense Dr Pepper-ridden black cherry–errrr prune fruit–with layers of brilliant acidity tinged in toasted leather and ripe banana.  The prune is bright and lively–no oxidation or madierization here.  Lovely cellar-floor and a touch of brett sandwiched into the steamed carrots and asparagus.

God, I love Bandol rouge.  And then you taste it.  An instant over-ripe cherry burst never mellows, never looks back–just heads straight into piles of chocolaty tar.  Bright and alive and young and careless and yet still so polished.  The gravelly acrid wet-road sublimation of tannin is at its near-drinkable harshest.  A dozen of these tucked away would reward MARVELOUSLY.
